I received some wonderful wisdom on happiness, from Alain de Botton at The School of Life.
The problem is, we busy ourselves so much with planning and critiquing life that we fail to recognise moments of happiness. We say, “When I’m as successful as him, then I will be happy”; “When I go on holiday, that's when life is good''; “Once I find a boyfriend, then everything will be fine”. But these are all moments of our lives we’re not living.
If we can be present right here and now, accept who we are and recognise what we love, then happiness will follow.
